So I was flipping through some websites in an attempt to continually avoid work when I came upon the site for String, which is a yarn store that opened up in NYC last fall. I still haven't had a chance to check it out, but that will change very shortly.

Anyway, as listed on their events page, they provide a very special service. You (an expecting parent) can register for a five piece baby layette in the yarn and colors that you prefer and have your friends come in and make these pieces or commission the staff to create them as part of your gift registry. How fabulous is that? You can now register for hand made gifts! I love it!
